If you think you will put lots of miles on your bike (use it for commuting to work, taking long trips in the summer, etc) I would go for it. If you're only going to putt around town and put 1000 miles a year on it, I doubt it would be worth it.
You also have to factor in how much repair and maintenance work you can do yourself. If you think you could do fairly major repair work, save the money. If not just remember, one visit to the shop for a valve job or a new piston will cost you more than the extended warranty.
I would ask if the warranty is transferable to the new owner if you decide to sell the bike. Just in case you decide to trade up in size, this could be a good selling point.
